Work In Progress was birthed with the desire of serving as a microscope to the beauty, worth and strength that is found in the process of “Becoming.” The process of “Becoming” can be defined as synonymous to Realisation or Actualisation that comes through evolution or refinement. It is a life-long process because we are called to realize certain versions of ourselves in the different seasons that we find ourselves in. That having been said, we must also acknowledge the fact that our environment plays a pivotal role in our growth and in order for us to know the effects of our surroundings on our journey, we must develop an understanding of the environment in itself. In this case, our environment is our society.
As a sociology student, I have come to the realization that society can evolve at a very fast paced rate, so much so that people feel this evolution to be rather erosive in nature as it leaves with them with little to not much connection to what they deemed to be their roots. Conversely, the process of evolution in society may feel rather stagnant, leading some to feel like their growth is being stifled. Whatever the case may be, one needs to know what they are dealing with in order to effectively deal with it and ultimately experience the fruits of their emergence. With this in mind, Work In Progress will be opening a section on the blog or as some would rather it be put, starting a segment on the blog whereby the planks that build the structures that define our society, will be brought to light and scrutinized where necessary.
As suggested above, WIP’s website will be the hub of this emancipatory knowledge. However, unlike the usual blog posts that are more aligned with text and graphics, the new segment will complement the already existing format with essay videos which will hopefully further personalize the experience and create a sense of familiarity among the WIP kin. I believe it will also aid in encompassing various formats of content sources.
So, buckle up mates, two and two are about to be put together through the work of WIP in society.
