Overwhelmed by the quantity and quality of the pieces and healing from the wounds bore from the journey of familiarizing with them, I held on to the truth that my worth was still accounted for but if truth be told, I still dreaded sun shines because they were often succeeded by storms.
Tired of jumping from a branch of optimism to a pit boldly labelled “You Didn’t See This Coming,” soaking in the joy of the mellow stages of growth felt harder than just sitting the in the pit of disappointment.
Wallowing in frustrations felt safer than living in the goodness and mercies of the new morning. I couldn’t enjoy the present because I was trying to fight any attack that would jeopardize it, cliché enough, it was self sabotage in itself.
You could liken this to a pastry chef who fails to draw pride in his work even though it’s his greatest milestone yet, because he’s scared some of the tiers will fall, or, a mechanic whose hesitant to celebrate her success in fixing a dicey vehicle because the thought of a different issue emerging frightens her. Fear of the unknown keeps knocking them off their pedestals and inserting thoughts of their progress to be valueless.
We only start to interact with these thoughts of our efforts being worthless when we give them attention and that is why we need to be intentional in embracing the happiness derived from our advancements.
A careful look at the word embrace proves that one needs to seize/accept/ eagerly take up the bliss that comes with things falling into place. Even when whispers of worry try to overwhelm your soul, one needs to stand their ground mentally and claim as well as rightfully own their excitement.
To that heart in need of a celebration:
Your message might not be reaching as broad an audience as other people’s may be but you’re not the only one absorbing your content so celebrate that one die hard member.
You may not have all the parts of the dress but the cloth has been perfectly cut and that’s under your belt.
You may be one topic into the syllabus and afraid that you’ll forget it all but celebrate the stuff that you’ll remember that will interlink with chapters ahead.
Honour Those Milestones My Progressive Heart.
